NXT LEVEL Dance Competition

Providing Next Level value to the dancers, parents and studio staff, while continually encouraging the artistic, creative, and imaginative abilities of all dancers.

How is NXT Level Different?

X Levels by Skill
Our levels are divided by skills achievable as opposed to hours in the studio or years competing. We do this to ensure a fair competition across the board for everyone, and to eliminate as many single dance categories as possible.
X Reasonable start times and award times!
We will never schedule the first dance of the session before 8am, and our last awards won’t be scheduled past 10:00pm.
X Updated Adjudications on Screen & Website
Awards are long by nature, and we want to help with the length of time they can take by having awards sessions be for high scores, judges choice and other special/studio awards. All adjudications (no scores) will be updated live on our website and on tv screens at the event within 15-20 minutes of your dance stepping off stage.
X Safe Floors and Clear Sounds!
Tap dancers need wood, all dancers need a safe floor, so we’re going to check both of those off with one! All tap dances will go in a separate session on an Omara Sprung floor to ensure all sounds are heard, and the sprung floor will be onstage all weekend to ensure a safe, sprung surface for all dancers!
X Bumping Routines
We have no problem bumping dances to the appropriate level, and will also make sure that dances that are bumped up receive recognition for this, as it is a great thing for our judges to see the potential for a more challenging competition for deserving dancers!

NXT Level Adjudicating

Judges Expectations
Everyone at one point has gone into a competition weekend wondering what the judges look for that weekend. At NXT Level, you’ll know! At the beginning of each event, we’ll have a teacher/studio director meeting with the director for the weekend and the judges so you can hear from them what they’ll be looking for throughout the weekend.
Tap Judges
When we have more than 30-35 dances entered in the “Tap” Category, we will be separating out all tap dances and bring in a majority panel of qualified tap dancers/judges to adequately judge this specialty art form. This will ensure all tap dances get proper feedback, as well as ensuring fair scoring from tap professionals.
NXT Level Judges
While we will still have 3 judges on our panel (all pre-screened and background checked), each judge will obviously have their strengths, and we would like to use that to benefit the dancers on stage! During registrations, we will be crafting our judging panel to fit the overall balance of dance genres onstage. This ensures we will have a fair, custom panel to the competition we are seeing that weekend as opposed to a panel of judges who have their individual experience spread out.
