Overall Studio Awards:

  • NXT Level Technique: Awarded to the studio with excellent technique showcased throughout the weekend.
  • NXT Level Choreography: Awarded to the studio with creative and innovative choreography.
  • NXT Level Passion: Awarded to the studio who’s passion shines throughout all routines throughout the weekend.
  • NXT Level Professionalism: Awarded to the studio with amazing sportsmanship and whose dancers/staff have incredible professionalism.

Categories

  • Acro: Routine containing acrobatic movement/gymnastics. Routine must contain 50% dance choreography.
  • Ballet: Routine consisting of classical ballet movement and technique. No acrobatic/gymnastic tricks allowed in this category.
  • Clogging: Routine consisting of clogging technique and performed in clogging shoes.
  • Contemporary: Routine consisting of contemporary jazz/lyrical technique combined to interpret the music.
  • Hip Hop: Routine consisting of mostly hip hop or street style moves. No Jazz technique.
  • Jazz: Routine consisting of traditional jazz technique.
  • Lyrical: Consisting of lyrical technique (balance, extension, and control) with the interpretation of the music.
  • Modern: Interpretive routine utilizing classic modern technique.
  • Musical Theatre: Routine choreographed to a song from a Broadway or movie musical. Utilizing song, dialogue or lip syncing, and/or dance.
  • Open: Routine consisting of more than one style of dance, unspecified styles, or that does not fit into any other category.
  • Pointe: Routine containing pointe technique. No acrobatic or gymnastic tricks allowed.
  • Tap: Routine consisting of tap dance technique. No pre-recorded tap sounds permitted.
  • Song and Dance: Routine consisting of singing and any style of dance. Music may only have back-up voices. Performance will use the boundary microphones, or one handheld microphone provided by NXT Level.
  • Vocal: Any type of vocal performance using one handheld microphone provided by NXT Level. Accompaniment can only be instrumental. Vocal routines will be eligible for separate overall if there are 5 or more entries in the category. If there are not at least 5 entries in the category, routine will be for adjudication only.
